Big Brownies in Tall Grass!
Just like the tall grass of the Serengeti in Tanzania. Photographing these big beautiful brown bears in tall green grass is a thrill to say the least. Imagine being on foot with your guide crossing through tall grass with camera equipment hanging around your neck and over your shoulder. Your in route to short green pastures when out of no-where a 9ft.-10ft. big brown bear stands up from the tall grass...what do you do? |

A thrilling moment for any photographer is being surprised by a huge Alaskan brown bear trotting
through tall grass. |

Strong nerves is needed when a big brown bear stands up only a few yards from the lens.

In 4 feet tall grass it becomes hard to see bears when
they lay down.

For photographers this certainly is a change from shooting pictures of the bears along rivers chasing and eating salmon. Taking pictures of grizzlies in tall grass is quite unique and wears on your nerves. This is a challenge and is not for the faint of heart. You need your guide at all times and your senses
need to be on full alert. The pictures can be rewarding with little distraction in the background and if your depth of field is right your images can be razor sharp with beautiful colors in the background as well as the foreground.

Not far from my lens these big brownies did battle in tall grass competing for the rights to breed with a sow.
Truly a sight to be seen.
